Our Review of Vestiaire Collective

Vestiaire Collective is a legitimate marketplace to sell your designer collection. It markets itself as a movement to “transform the fashion industry” away from fast fashion. In 2022, the company purchased the widely popular Tradesy marketplace, bringing its 7 million users into the Collective.

Our Vestiaire Collective review found it’s a trusted name to sell second-hand designer fashions to over 23 million people. However, on review sites, the company has gotten generally bad reviews about the app features and responsiveness of sellers. Some buyers have reported issues with not receiving packages.

Vestiaire Collective Alternatives

While Vestiaire Collective alternatives include The RealReal, Poshmark, and Mercari which offer similar services for selling designer fashion and luxury goods. Explore your options and find the platform that best suits your needs and preferences. It’s also possible to list your items in multiple marketplaces.

My experience with Vestiaire Collective has been nothing short of a nightmare. I purchased a bag that was advertised as genuine leather with specific dimensions of 10.3 inches by 10.3 inches by 6.5 inches. However, when the bag arrived, it was clear that it had never been measured accurately. The actual dimensions were 7 inches by 6.5 inches by 4 inches, which is over 9 inches smaller than advertised. To make matters worse, the bag was made of faux leather, not the quality material promised. I reached out to Vestiaire, expecting them to rectify the situation given their so-called “trusted quality control.” Instead, I was met with indifference. They only offered to let me relist the bag for a fee, which felt incredibly unfair. After 15 frustrating emails over 5 days expressing my concerns about the misleading listing and false quality report, they finally agreed to allow me to send it back for review. Imagine my shock when I discovered they relisted my bag under my name with the same inaccurate information! They don’t allow you to change the description on a relist, so now I’m stuck being responsible for deceiving another customer. It feels like a scam, where the only winner is Vestiaire Collective. This experience has left me feeling frustrated and cheated. Their business practices are highly unethical and, in my opinion, border on illegal. I would strongly advise against using Vestiaire Collective if you value honesty and integrity in online shopping.

These people do not know their own terms and conditions. I bought a handbag. Extra with verification. Bag arrived. And I immediately see two stains. Neither shown in the photos nor mentioned by the team before. So I reported it. Apart from the fact that I had a new employee in front of me after every message, none of them were even remotely helpful. I said I would keep the bag, but I want a part of the price reduced. Not possible. Only a discount voucher. (which you constantly get as a gift for various occasions, and only goes up to 50€ !!!??) What nonsense, of course it’s possible. It’s even stated in the terms and conditions. In addition to the stains, Vestiaire claimed that the bag was from a private purchase. And I naturally wanted to know where and how they see that. That my seller got the bag from a private purchase. Because there was no receipt, etc. There was no answer to that. But instead, a picture of the label with a bare foot on it!!! (employee from the verification team) They want to tell me afterwards that it’s a thumb. But I can clearly see the difference, honestly. And now I’ve been in an impossible fight with them for weeks. I have tried multiple times to get something like a manager. Eventually, I was called, but it was absolutely unhelpful. I don’t know if it was really someone higher up or if they just thought I was a fool. Thousands of texts back and forth, and I had to explain myself hundreds of times because something was constantly misunderstood, forgotten, or undermined, etc. This is a multi-million dollar company. And they want to tell me that they don’t have the means to refund me damn 50€ or something similar!!!!!!?????? Absolutely ridiculous. Incredibly incompetent and greedy company!!!! Disgusting.
