Taking paid surveys online can be a simple and flexible way to make easy money.
By choosing the right sites and staying consistent, you can earn a good amount of extra income in your spare time. However, it’s important to weigh the time spent with the earnings you receive, as surveys typically pay modestly for the time you invest.
Paid online surveys allow companies and marketers to gather consumer feedback. In exchange for insights, companies offer cash or rewards. While the amount you can earn depends on the site and the survey, it’s a relatively easy way to earn money in your spare time.
These paid survey apps help you earn money by answering questions, testing products (like apps and games), and giving feedback.
Paid surveys online typically work by having you register for a site, completing your profile, and answering a few questions about your interests, demographics, or buying habits. From there, you’ll receive survey invitations that match your profile. After completing the survey, you’ll be rewarded with cash via PayPal, gift cards, or loyalty points.
Follow these tips to maximize your earnings and protect your time.
While paid online surveys are an excellent way to make easy money, it’s important to manage your expectations regarding time investment.
The time it takes to complete a survey and the amount you earn can vary significantly from one site to another. Here’s a breakdown to decide:
Shorter surveys (usually around 5-10 minutes) typically pay less, anywhere from $0.50 to $2. However, these are often quick and easy to complete. Longer surveys, typically taking 20-30 minutes, can pay $3-$5 or more, depending on the topic and survey site.
Signing up for multiple survey sites increases the number of surveys you can take, but it also means managing several accounts and inboxes. This can add up in time and effort, so it’s crucial to prioritize the sites that offer the best payout for your time.
For most users, paid surveys are a side hustle rather than a primary income source. Expect to make anywhere from $50 to $200 per month, depending on how much time you commit to completing surveys.
However, the earnings can vary. Some days may have more survey opportunities than others, and some surveys may be disqualified before you can even complete them, which is part of the process.
If you want to get the best return on your time, consider mixing paid surveys with other side activities like watching videos or participating in reward programs (e.g., Swagbucks or InboxDollars). This allows you to earn while doing other tasks, which increases your hourly earnings.

Jason,
I’ve also spent a ton of time messing around with surveys – and by and large they don’t make a lot of sense in terms of money received for time spent.
There are a couple of exceptions: 1Q and Google Opinion Rewards. 1Q pays 25 cents per question and Google Opinion rewards pays about 10 cents per question.
I like and use both. The only thing is, there aren’t very many questions, so you won’t be able to scale it into any kind of serious side hustle.

Thanks for your suggestions. There are a lot more questions that can eat up some serious seconds.
