PuppySpot review quick take: A community of breeders and families looking for a puppy.
PuppySpot Overview
The PuppySpot review is for people searching to breed puppies for money. The goal is to spotlight the great responsibility in doing so and the stringent requirements for the ethical and humane treatment of animals.
A personal note after doing this review: Please don’t breed puppies to sell as a side hustle.
Is PuppySpot legit?
PuppySpot has helped over 150,000 healthy pups into “happy homes” with hundreds of positive reviews.
Founded 10 years ago, PuppySpot can help you find homes for your puppies. As a responsible breeder through Puppy Spot, you can help puppies find a caring and responsible person or family.
PuppySpot is a USDA-licensed broker (cert. # 58-B-0618) and requires that every breeder in the network be licensed (unless they are exempt from licensing by the USDA).
What is PuppySpot Breeder?
PuppySpot breeders meet standards and requirements to prevent animal cruelty and follow health guarantees.
A puppy mill is not an acceptable partner with PuppySpot. Puppy mills are characterized as commercial breeding facilities with poor conditions. The company says, “A Puppy Mill is a substandard source for puppies that places profit above the welfare of its animals. A Puppy Mill is inhumane and cruel and typically operates in violation of the law or government regulations.”
How to Become a PuppySpot Breeder
As a responsible breeder, you can place your puppies for sale and have them matched to the right individual or family. Breeders can share images and information of their litter through the platform. All breeders must undergo a data-driven screening process, be evaluated, and get approval to use the platform.
- Application process: Includes interviews, review of ownership and operational history, field visits, criminal background checks, facility review, compliance evaluation, government and humanitarian database review, and veterinarian history.
- Comprehensive health evaluations: Ensure breeders are raising healthy puppies.
- Fees: There are no fees for breeders.
Requirements
- Veterinary Care: Breeders are required to maintain a formal relationship with an attending USDA-accredited veterinarian to maintain a Program of Veterinary Care (a PVC)
- Housing: Living spaces for dogs must meet high standards in size, ventilation, cleanliness, fun environment, and facilities.
- Training: Breeder staff must have adequate staffing and training programs to ensure puppy and parent health.
- Check-ins: Conduct surprise visits of breeders in conjunction with American Humane.
Who is it best for
PuppySpot is best for licensed and professional breeders.
PuppySpot Review
In this PuppySpot review, we learned it is not for the casual dog family with unexpected puppies to sell. The service is only for responsible breeders who undergo extensive vetting.
From the Puppy Spot website: “We pride ourselves on being far more than just a service. We’re committed to placing healthy puppies into happy homes and have several measures in place to ensure the health and happiness of your new family member. One of them is our Health Guarantee, which is only activated once you take your puppy to a licensed veterinarian.”
PuppySpot is a legitimate service. It has over 5,000 reviews comprising mostly positive ratings on Trustpilot, scoring a 4.5 out of 5. They respond to 59% of bad reviews on the website.
The website provides customer service support to individuals and families who work with breeders through the platform.
Something to consider: Our review of PuppySpot also discovered many complaints from people who bought from breeders. These include negative reviews from a customer who received a sick puppy and questioned the health guarantee. And comments on experiences with puppy concierges (PuppySpot Customer Care).
Our last word: If you want a puppy, do your homework, ask questions, contact local shelters first, and vet any breeder.
Also, let us know your thoughts and leave a PuppySpot review.

I have no complaints. I see a lot of bad reviews and feel bad for the people and puppies. It’s not right and needs to be made right. My experience was good. I love my now grown puppy.

A personal note from Jason Vitug, founder of phroogal.com: If you’re someone who is looking to breed as a side hustle, please consider the consequences of doing so. There are millions of dogs euthanized because there aren’t enough loving homes for them. Leave the breeding to licensed professionals.
And if you’re looking at buying a dog online, please do your homework, vet the breeders, and ask more questions than you think you’re allowed to ask. Remember this: if a dog breeder or someone selling pets in forums and online marketplaces get angry or annoyed (or doesn’t have the time) imagine how they are treating the parents of these puppies.

PuppySpot brought us our family so much joy at a time where we needed it most. She’s sweet, loves to cuddle and has such a great temperament. Anytime we have visitors over they ask if we could clone her…needless to say she has plenty of babysitters 🙂 PuppySpot made the experience so easy. We’re so grateful for our puppy!

Our entire experience with PuppySpot was seamless. From the moment we fell in love with the photo of our black Labrador Retriever, to verifying his pedigree and vaccination records, through communicating with the sales representative and arranging convenient transportation to bring our puppy home, we couldn’t be more pleased. It was very reassuring to know that he was from a vetted breeder. He is such a beautiful, playful and gentle Lab who brings so much happiness to our household!
I definitely recommend PuppySpot to anyone looking for their perfect puppy with the confidence of working with a reliable and professional company.

Used PuppySpot a few years ago to get our family’s first pet. Such a great choice in the long run. Wife and i knew nothing about the different breeds and potential heath issues and life expectancy and best with young kids.
Speaking with someone from PuppySpot, it was like they literally held our hand through the entire process.
Very happy and pleased with this company and our dog.

I cannot express how thrilled I am with my experience with PuppySpot! From the moment I decided to bring a Cavapoo puppy into my life, PuppySpot made the process seamless and joyful.
Firstly, their website is incredibly user-friendly, allowing me to browse through various breeds and select the perfect one for me. Once I chose my Cavapoo, the communication from PuppySpot was outstanding. They kept me informed every step of the way, from the selection process to the puppy’s journey home.
When my adorable Cavapoo finally arrived, I was blown away by how well-cared for and healthy she was. It’s evident that PuppySpot prioritizes the well-being of their puppies. They provided all the necessary documentation, including health records and registration papers, ensuring peace of mind.
Not only did PuppySpot deliver a happy, healthy puppy, but they also provided exceptional customer service throughout the entire process. They were always available to answer any questions I had and provided support even after my puppy arrived home.
Thanks to PuppySpot, I now have a wonderful Cavapoo companion who brings endless joy and love into my life. I highly recommend PuppySpot to anyone looking to add a furry friend to their family. They truly go above and beyond to make the adoption process a positive and memorable experience. Thank you, PuppySpot!
