Comprehensive List of Federal Student Loan Servicers (With Contact Info)

Disclosure: The article may contain affiliate links from partners who may compensate us. However, the words, opinions, and reviews are our own. Learn how we make money to support our mission.

If you have federal student loans, your student loan servicer is the company that manages your account on behalf of the U.S. Department of Education. Your servicer handles billing, repayment plans, deferment or forbearance requests, forgiveness programs, and customer support.

Knowing who your servicer is — and how to contact them — is essential for staying on top of your loans and avoiding costly mistakes.

If you’re not sure who services your loans, log in to your account at StudentAid.gov and check the “My Loan Servicers” section on your dashboard. You may have more than one servicer if you have multiple loans.

How to Use This Guide

  • Use this list to identify and contact your loan servicer directly.
  • Always confirm your assigned servicer by logging into your StudentAid.gov account.
  • Keep your contact information updated with your servicer to avoid missed notices or payment issues.
  • If your loans are transferred to a new servicer, your new servicer will notify you.

Important Notes for Borrowers

  • Some companies that previously serviced federal loans (such as FedLoan Servicing, Navient, or Great Lakes) no longer hold federal contracts.
  • If you receive a notice that your loans have been transferred, verify it by logging into your StudentAid.gov account.
  • Never pay a third party to “find” your servicer or manage basic federal loan tasks.
