Extended-hours trading is stock trading conducted by electronic networks that happens either before or after the trading day of a stock exchange. Otherwise known as pre-market trading or after-hours trading.
Full extended hours tradingncludes full pre-market (4:00 AM – 9:30 AM ET) and after hours (4:00 PM – 8:00 PM ET) sessions.
The pre-market is the period of trading activity occurring before the regular market session between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. EST each trading day.
After-hours trading is the name for buying and selling of securities when the major markets are closed.
