The Bureau of the Public Debt (BPD) was an agency in the U. S. Department of the Treasury which managed the borrowing of money needed to run the federal government and accounts for the national debt. The Bureau of the Public Debt consolidated with the Financial Management Service in October 2012 into the Bureau of the Fiscal Service.
